“Mv creative expression is to show strength in vulnerability and inspire the masses to speak their truth. If I can create a positive change by supporting young adults directly through self-expression, I’m all for it.”

Simmy’s music often blends elements of personal introspection, emotional storytelling, and cultural influences. His tracks like “BLUE” explore themes such as love, loss, and mental health, with an emphasis on vulnerability and emotional depth.

“The contribution of the five Yorkshire poets (fellow Yorkshire poet Joel Simmy) to James Beale’s production is in the same spirit of collaborative enterprise, written in a language designed to be heard not studied.”
The Guardian
“This cohort of participants requires a high level of empathy, sensitivity and a breadth of creative skills to employ at the right time – Joel had all of this.”
Sally Baker
“I would not hesitate to recommend to others the positive impact on young people and adults of working with Joel.”
Jill Brook
Joel was recommended to me as a cultural and creative practitioner. His enthusiasm immediately resonated with the young people, who he guided on a journey of prose, poetry and production to create and record their very own track. The quality of what his facilitation supported the young people in producing was phenomenal, with one boy reflecting by saying he thought the track was: “...going to save a lot of lives.”
